Before embarking on her career, Libby received her B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and went on to study at the New York School of Interior Design, The Art Students League and the San Francisco Academy of Art.
Travel is an important element of Libby’s life. Whether the sun-drenched Caribbean, the historic cities of Europe, the factories in India, or the French countryside of Provence, the images and experiences of being in different cultures are some of the most important and direct influences in her design work.
Recently, she has been enjoying her summers in Provence. “The colors...the weather...the markets....the language, have all become a part of me”, says Libby. And, becoming fluent in the language has only added to the vibrancy of her experiences and art.

Gardening is another passion of the design-loving artist. Her flower beds range from pink and white tulips in the spring to lavender beds in the summer and dahlias in the fall. “For me, gardening is a very personal experience” states Libby, whose dahlias have been handed down in her family for generations, and whose papyrus came from a friend’s mother who visited the Nile almost fifty years ago!
Libby is married and has one daughter who lives in Washington D.C. and will soon be spending two years in Australia. Of course, Libby will have to go explore the design world “down under.”
