ARE YOU READY FOR THE NEW FACEBOOK TIMELINE?

I, for one, am not ready.
I don't want to change my page!
But, alas, tomorrow is THE DAY.

Facebook will change all accounts over to the new "Timeline" format.

And that means you need a "Cover" image: that large, horizontal image right at the top of your new page.

Take a look at Copyblogger's

Here you will find full, complete directions for creating this new image.

Here are the new, correct dimensions:

Check out Copyblogger and get your new page up and running!
(we'll see if I have time to get mine going by tomorrow...)

PANTONE PASTRIES BY EMILIE GRIOTTES

These are fabulous!
 They are stunning!

French food blogger, Emilie Griottes, developed these edible color chips for the French food magazine Fricote.

Colorful tartelettes a la Pantone. Who would have thought?

And, of course, you can go to Emilie's site, Griottes, to see more (and read more if you read French).

Pretty amazing, no?

I'M BACK!

It's been a while.

Where did the week go? Was it really a week? Did I lose track of time, or what?

I was attending to some personal business...some difficult personal business that was all consuming. Those of you who know me well are aware of all that I, and my family, have been going through. For everyone else I will just say that it's been a difficult few months. I am fine: no, it's not me. But in my limited role as a care giver it has been a tricky time.

I'm tired but I'm oh............so glad to be home!

I had a chance to take a few photos at a market where the colors of Easter were so wonderfully brilliant that I couldn't resist.

And then my sister, who just returned from Hawaii, brought me these goodies!

And of COURSE I had a chance to stop by TJ Maxx where I saw these bright, wonderful, fun bags!
The first photo is Cynthia Rowley, but I can't remember ... the name on the second set. So, you just have to go over there and see what you can find, right?

I'm back in business, for a while. Yes indeed, I must go back up in a few weeks for an extended stay. But for now I will enjoy this beautiful spring/summer weather we are having. My tulips have all come out in my absence; the clematis looks like it could bloom any day; the viburnum have nice big buds;  and my pot of mint is ready to pick. I'll show you some more on "Friday Flowers" this Friday!

FRIDAY FLOWERS: SIGNS OF SPRING

Lots of new growth around here!

I will try to track these babies as they grow... maybe show you new images every few weeks.

In the meantime, I may not be blogging on a regular basis for the near future. I'll stop in when I can, but I have a lot going on both here and in more distant places. Perhaps this coming Monday, but then I'll be away the rest of the week. There are not enough hours in a day, right?

For those of you who are interested, I used BeFunky for these images. I used the "Instant" frame and then "Inkcalig" font. I must say, I'm having fun with this program: it's almost as good as Picnik, but not quite.

NEWEST HOUZZ IDEABOOK

"SEEING YELLOW"
My latest ideabook over on Houzz is all about yellow. I've always loved yellow and couldn't be happier that it's back in style..

Here is my introduction to the "Seeing Yellow" Ideabook:

It's almost springtime and time for some yellow! Whether it's daffodil, or mustard, or neon... yellow has made a comeback in all areas of home fashions. My very first sofa was covered in a wonderful Brunschwig yellow and white graphic print and yes, indeed, that look is here again.

Kate Smith of Sensational Color says: "Yellow shines with optimism, enlightenment, and happiness. Shades of golden yellow carry the promise of a positive future. Yellow will advance from surrounding colors and instill optimism and energy, as well as spark creative thoughts."

Yellow is such a happy color! Take a look here and see if you don't agree.

To show you just how much I like this color...here are some images from around the house:

So, what's your opinion of yellow? Do you like it? Do you have it in your house?

LET'S HAVE SOME BLOOD ORANGES

Do you know blood oranges? Do you eat them regularly?
I vaguely remember having had them, then just last week I bought six of these gorgeous creatures at Whole Foods.

What a treat!

Not only are they delicious, but it's the visuals that really got me! Great photo op indeed.

The next morning I realized I didn't have very much orange juice, so I squeezed a blood orange:

I used BeFunky for these two images with filters and frames!
One very nice thing about the program is not having to sign up, or in. Just click the link, start your upload and choose your filters, or frames or whatever. Couldn't be easier.

Very good juice!

N O T E
My computer is back and running. It was the "power supply" and not the logic board! Yay. So, for about $100.00 it was fixed: nothing was lost or changed and it seems to be running beautifully.
But I would advise each and every one of you TO BACK UP! You just never know when your computer may die...

HOW MY iMAC DIED....

This is my 24" iMac an hour after it died. Yes everyone, it just stopped working!

Not a sound. I went online, via laptop, to the MacHelp pages. Hmmm. The logic board perhaps? Power supply?  I unplugged all the wires. I waited. I pressed the start button many many times. I left the room to let it (and me) have some quiet time. Not A SOUND. No hum, nothing.

And this was all hours before I was leaving for a week.

Never fear: I DO have Time Machine (which has absolutely saved me several times...) and a complete backup i.e. that little flat black box sitting just underneath.

This is what I came back to today. Husband had taken the beloved iMac to the hospital. Yes indeed, first they will install a new power supply to get it going to then see just what the problem is. But we think it IS the logic board i.e. motherboard. The inner workings of the computer and not to be confused with the hard drive.

So this is what I'm using for now. Thank goodness for the laptop. But I'm still missing some critical Photoshop files and really, most of my iPhoto files. I don't transfer them over here on a regular basis.

So then, the question becomes: do I pay for this repair or go all the way and get a new computer? My operating system is Snow Leopard (up from Leopard just three months ago). A new computer would have  Mountain Lion. Of course, there is the money issue. But then again, we have known I would have to go the "new" route for some time: my machine is just so slow these days and has been having problems on and off. On the other hand, I just do NOT have time right now to deal with any learning curve involved in Mountain Lion.

Computer stories anyone? You DO backup, right????

And yes, I will stick with my older iMac for a while; let's hope I can make it last through the year!
