WILMINGTON, NORTH CAROLINA

A little R & R was in order... and what better place to go than the coast?

First stop was Carolina Beach:

Then it was on to Wilmington. You can read all about the city, it's history, and what it offers, here. I had read about this "river" city and its many charms...well...they are all true! The waterfront area is wonderful. It has been revitalized and renewed in a really pedestrian friendly and very tasteful way. The "touristy/schlock" quotient was at a minimum. And, because it was a Saturday morning, we were in luck to find the farmer's market.

Then there is the waterfront:

And finally, there is a very fine restaurant: Le Catalan. Oh heaven! French bistro chairs facing the river and really good, authentic French food (and yes, we actually spoke French to the owner).

We will be going back, in the very near future, so I'll be posting more pictures and news!

  1. Looks like a fabulous holiday Libbie. We all need a little getaway don't we. I have been in that area several times - you're making me a little homesick for the good old USA!
    Enjoy!

  6. I'm so jealous. What great photos and the food looks fabulous. I live in Alberta Canada, there are no beaches here like the one in the photo. Nice!
