Here is something fun: a day in New York with my friend and customer, Leo. We went to all sorts of paper stores, Fishs Eddy, ABC and other assorted boutiques in Chelsea. Not to mention stops for food! This is just a very short version of the day we spent looking for ideas and "market shopping".  I'll be in the city again next week, just before Christmas, and will try to post some unusual and spectacular holiday ideas!

CHRISTMAS!

I was over in New England this past weekend. The trip home today was very..... long due to road closures from the ice/wind storm of last Friday. But the markets in and around Boston were colorful and bright!

Not only can you see the RED for the season, but I love the way these wreaths are so orderly! Nice way to display.

I had to buy the flowering kale here: the creamy color is a nice change from the usual mauve.

And, of course, I like the use of the wheelbarrow to display the wood; something a little different and quirky!

THE COLOR RED

I've painted both my front hall and a small "sitting room", off the dining room, a wonderful shade of red from Farrow & Ball. It's actually darker, and richer, than what you see here.
The bowl of "green" is a kind of eucalyptus: very effective as a center piece.
I couldn't resist these small round chocolates covered in great fall color foils.
Maybe these are all a prelude to Christmas colors. I'm hoping to take some pictures and videos this weekend of lights and colors of the pre-Christmas season.Have you noticed: there are so many OTHER color combinations now for Christmas and holiday papers? I saw one set yesterday of a foil paper with magenta, black and gold: the effect was very rich and saturated. Personally, I love the bright pinks in combination with red! How about some orange too?
